Intro to Camera Operations

This class will review all aspects of being a camera operator. Students learn how to set up a camera, how to balance (with a touch on white balance), and what to expect during a show run. They will also learn about camera setup, specifically camera riser basics, set and balance on a tripod, etc. Lastly, they will learn how to operate the camera and complete a mock run.

Steve Jackson is a member of IATSE Local 336. He has worked in many areas in the industry. Steve has been working in the Audio-Visual industry since 2000 and has been a Breakout Room Tech since 2000. He started running shoulder cameras for concerts for free in 2000 to learn how to be a camera operator. Two years later, around 2002, he started operating cameras for general sessions and later livestreaming and hybrid sessions in AV for pay.
