Intro to Wardrobe

The purpose of this class is to prepare someone to work as a Local Dresser for a Touring Broadway show. Students will learn about wardrobe load in/continuity, setting up “gondola village,” performer interaction etiquette, show call, and post-show protocols.

Robin A. Strand is the current Wardrobe Department Head for IATSE Local #415 with over 20 years of experience working with Costumes. Her first time working for a touring Broadway show was as a local Dresser for Phantom of the Opera in 2002. Since then, she’s been part of the Tucson local wardrobe crew for countless productions. Robin has worked for Arizona Opera since 2001 and Arizona Theater Company since 2010. Working in their Costume Shops as a Costume Crafts Artisan, Milliner, Stitcher, and running shows as Wardrobe Supervisor and/or Dresser in Tucson and Phoenix, AZ. For the past ten years, Robin has been working on feature films, TV shows, and commercials as a Costume Designer, Stylist, Stitcher, Ager/Dyer, and Set Costumer.
