This course covers welding and allied processes, heat treating, grinding, thawing pipes, powder-driven fasteners, hot riveting, torch-applied roofing and any similar applications producing or using sparks, flame or heat. Completing the MA Hot Work Safety Certificate Class and passing the test is now required by anyone doing “hot work” in the state as of July 2018.

Identify common fuel sources and ignition sources
Cite relevant standards, regulations, & ordinances that are applicable to hot work
Describe the three-step approach to hot work safety
Define and identify hot work and hot work hazards
Describe hot work evaluation requirements
Define the duties and responsibilities of each person on the hot work team
Read and understand a hot work permit
