Basic Stagecraft in Appleton, WI | Local 470

An introduction to stagecraft covers fundamental skills and safety procedures for workers in all departments including stage directions, etiquette, material handling, support for those working overhead, and situational awareness. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will know how to report for work properly equipped and safely move show materials from the truck to the deck and back. They will know what behaviors are expected of them. They will gain specific skills such as folding soft goods, securing ratchet straps and how to use the hand tools we expect everyone to carry. This will include both lecture/demonstration and hands‐on practice.

  • What you need to know about a job site before you begin work and where to get it

  • Stage and arena directions

  • Stage etiquette

  • Basic PPE

  • Basic tools and how to use them

  • Truck loading procedures

  • Pushing crates

  • Moving items
