Intermediate Sewing in Baltimore, MD | Local 487

This one day course covers essential machine sewing and hemming techniques for the wardrobe worker. Students will learn 7 essential sewing skills and 5 seam finishing techniques for garment construction, alteration and repair. Upon completing this course, members will have the knowledge of basic machine sewing skills necessary to maintenance, alteration and repair of wardrobe.

  • Directional stay stitching

  • Clean finish

  • Grading

  • Clipping and notching

  • Understitching

  • Gathering- double row method

  • Gathering- zig-zag method

  • Stitch and pink

  • Faux flat felled seam

  • French seam

  • Edge-stitched seam

  • Hong Kong finish
