This class fulfills all NFPA requirements and is customized to address issues and situations that occur when doing hot work in our industry. Hot Work includes welding and allied processes, heat treating, grinding, thawing pipes, powderdriven fasteners, hot riveting, torch-applied roofing and any similar applications producing or using sparks, flame or heat. Completing the MA Hot Work Safety Certificate Class and passing the test is now required by anyone doing “hot work” in the state, as of July 2018.
Describe the various types of hot work
Identify common fuel sources and ignition sources
Cite relevant standards, regulations, and ordinances that are applicable to hot work
Define the duties and responsibilities of each person on the hot work team
Read and understand a hot work permit.
