Introduction to Audio

This class is designed to introduce students to basic audio principles, system components and set-up, cable routing, and audio crew best practices. Students will learn set-up and safe use of basic audio systems and equipment identification, including mixers, speakers, cables, microphones, and adapters.

Tom Adams, IATSE Local 16

Location: San Francisco, CA

Tom Adams is a 26-year member and Audio Technician of IATSE Local 16 in San Francisco. He has worked in film, theater, symphony, opera, ballet, and other music concerts. Tom specializes in corporate audio as an A1 or A2 for general sessions including Apple, Oracle, Google, Intel, Sales Force, TCT, and RSA. He is also a 12-year member of the Local 16 Examining Board, in charge of overseeing and developing curriculum and training for our apprentice program and member trainings.

He has instructed over 50 audio classes for general membership and apprentice trainings including: Introduction to Audio, A2 For The General Session, Intro to Digital Audio Consoles, Micing Techniques for Corporate and Theatrical Presentations, and Intro to Wireless Microphones.
