Beading 101
This beginner’s class will teach participants various beading techniques required to maintain beaded costume pieces. They will also learn to create their own designs from scratch. Participants will learn to apply sequins, bugle beads, seed beads, lochrosen, and novelty beads in a variety of patterns. They will also learn to bead on woven and stretch fabrics.
They will be shown the process of going from a beaded design sketch to a completed garment made in a costume shop. Then they will do hands-on learning of beading maintenance techniques which are done at the theatre, event space, or on the job site. Two different techniques are used: tambour beading and standard beading needle techniques. The class will learn standard beading needle techniques.
