Audio 101

This course is designed to teach students the basic skills of working in the Audio Department. The basic audio course will focus on essential concepts, practical skills, and hands-on techniques that are directly relevant to work in live event and theatrical settings. By focusing on these areas, the course will equip stagehands with the knowledge and confidence to assist in live audio production effectively. The classroom course will be supplemented with visual aids, real-world scenarios, and opportunities for hands-on practice to enhance learning.

  2. Audio Equipment and Cable Identification

  3. Basic Audio Setup, Signal Flow

  4. Audio Safety and Best Practices

Joe Adam, IATSE Local 18

Location: Milwaukee, WI

Joe Adam has been working with Local 18 since 2002 and has been a member since 2019. He has years of experience in professional sound reinforcement, including touring and house positions. Currently, Joe works as the A2 at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee and has held that position for the last four years. Joe has mixed FOH at the Uline Stage during Summerfest for the last 13 years. He has also run monitors for Irish Fest for the last seven years. Joe is the current examiner in the Audio Department for Local 18. Since starting to work with Local 18, Joe had been instrumental in mentoring new hires in audio and other departments.
