Dolly 101
Students will get the opportunity to work with several different models and receive guidance to address the following:
Familiarization with some popular models of camera dollies.
Operational characteristics unique to each manufacturer.
Basic functions for use, and methods of transporting and storage.
Use and applications of the accessories.
Proper techniques for laying track.
This class features hands-on activities. Dollies to be utilized include Chapman Hustler IV, Super Peewee IV, Fisher 10, and Fisher 11 models.

Eric Komar & Todd Nicodemus, IATSE Local 481
Location: Boston, MA
Eric Komar has twenty-four years of experience working in the motion picture and television industry and has been a member of Local 481 since 1991. In his role as grip on motion picture sets and practical locations he oversees the safety considerations during the set-up phase of production. He has developed and delivered training courses for Emerson College and Clark University and has delivered Super Technocrane Clinics, AWP Certified Operator, Dolly Grip, and Forklift Seminar & Practical classes for Local 481. Eric is certified by the Department of Public Safety to conduct continuing education courses for members with MA Hoisting Licenses. He is certified by JLG, Genie, and the International Powered Access Federation as an AWP instructor.
Todd Nicodemus has several decades of experience working in the Grip Department, primarily as a dolly grip. He has worked in LA (with IATSE Local 80) as well as Portland, Oregon (with IATSE Local 488). In 2018 he moved and joined Local 481 where his most recent work has included being a dolly grip on Finestkind, The Holdovers, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, Julia S2, Dexter: New Blood, and Free Guy.
