This custom Mobile Elevated Work Platform certification class is designed for motion picture crew members, includes a classroom section with presentation, discussion, video, and a written test which is followed by pre-operation inspections and 60-minute, individual, practical appointments conducted on boom lifts, scissor lifts, and mast lifts.

Eric Komar & Brandon Meadows, IATSE Local 481
Location: Boston, MA
Eric Komar has twenty-four years of experience working in the motion picture and television industry and has been a member of Local 481 since 1991. In his role as grip on motion picture sets and practical locations he oversees the safety considerations during the set-up phase of production. He has developed and delivered training courses for Emerson College and Clark University and has delivered Super Technocrane Clinics, AWP Certified Operator, Dolly Grip, and Forklift Seminar & Practical classes for Local 481. Eric is certified by the Department of Public Safety to conduct continuing education courses for members with MA Hoisting Licenses. He is certified by JLG, Genie, and the International Powered Access Federation as an AWP instructor.
Brandon Meadows currently serves as Local 481’s Executive Board Craft Representative for the Electric Department. He has been an integral part of creating and enhancing the electric department’s course curriculum within the Local’s Training Program. He currently works as a lighting technician and Best Boy Electric in both film and television, with his most recent work being on such projects as Knives Out and Equalizer 2. He has served as a mentor in several Local 481 classes, including Soldering, Batteries, & LEDs and was getting certified to be both an MEWP and a Forklift/Telehandler trainer in July of 2022.
