Rough Terrain Forklift Operator

This course makes use of the J.J. Keller training kit and student workbook for rough terrain fork vehicles. The training program is based around a classroom setting, which focuses on specific areas or modules of rough terrain fork truck training for Class VII (rough terrain trucks with pneumatic tires) lift trucks.

  • Rough terrain truck fundamentals, controls, and engine operation

  • Operator’s instruction, warnings, and precautions

  • Differences between rough terrain and standard masted forklifts

  • Stability, balance, and capacity

  • Preoperational inspection

  • Site evaluation, overhead obstacles, and environmental hazards

  • Steering and maneuvering on rough terrain

  • Visibility issues

  • Vehicle attachments, operation, and limitations

  • Refueling and charging/recharging batteries

  • Electrocution hazards and overhead obstacles
