Ice Dyeing: Intro to Dyeing Basics
This course teaches techniques for lesser-known ways to dye fabrics using ice. Participants will learn the proper methods and safety skills for dying techniques using soda ash, powdered dyes, and ice. Costumes, Set Decorators, and Props crews may use this technique for creating a modeled dying effect similar to a “tie dye”, but different. Participants will learn the proper use of the chemicals, understand their SDS sheets, the appropriate PPE and disposal methods for the dyes, and the appropriate chemicals needed to use this ice dye technique.
