Course Overview

This foundational course introduces the main principles of adult learning and effective facilitation techniques, helping trainers to create adaptive lesson plans and active learning environments. It sets the stage for understanding classroom dynamics, student assessment, and the continuous improvement of teaching practices, both in structured classroom sessions and dynamic on-the-job (OTJ) training, forming the cornerstone of the Train the Trainer program.

  1. Identify adult learning principles and foundational facilitation techniques during the learning cycle.

  2. Recognize the importance of addressing individual student training needs across various contexts, including structured and hands-on learning environments.

  3. Identify key components of an active and engaging learning environment.

  4. List the expectations of an instructor’s role in both classroom and OTJ settings, including professionalism and adaptability.

  5. Recognize best practices for managing challenging situations in classroom-based and OTJ training.

  6. Identify basic concepts of student learning progression and introductory assessment methods relevant to both structured and informal training environments.

  7. Understand the importance of self-assessment and continuous learning goals to improve as a trainer.
