Firearms Safety in Albuquerque, NM | Local 480

This course covers the most important aspects of gun safety while on set for the benefit of all crew members on and off set. Course participants will learn the importance of Safety Bulletins #1 & #2. Participants will also develop an understanding that firearms safety isn’t just for the Armorer but for all crew on set. Participants will learn the importance of who’s in charge of onset safety and the job of the Armorer as well as the hierarchy of gun safety on set.

  • How guns work, the different action types, and which ones need to be blank adapted

  • Dummy rounds: the how, when, and why of air soft non-guns, UTMs

  • Types of guns, blanks, and dummies you’ll see on set

  • The three firearm accidents that led to fatalities and the how and why of what went wrong

  • How to set up gunfire safely for camera and crew

  • Your part in gun safety
