This course is intended to educate and prepare all persons working on or in proximity to a film production wherein prop firearms are used. This course provides a practical, hands-on learning experience aimed at giving participants a comprehensive understanding of the non-negotiable safety practices governing the safe use of firearm props. This course will also provide attendees the ability to recognize un-safe conditions or practices in the handling of prop firearms, a clear understanding of established safety protocols around the chain of custody and movement of prop firearms on set, and understanding of appropriate actions to take when unsafe conditions are recognized, an understanding of expected means of communication and demonstration of the state and condition of a firearm prop to all cast and crew during production, familiarity with common prop weapon platforms that will enable any crew member to identify the condition or state of a prop firearm (loaded, unloaded), and the ability to differentiate between live ammunition, blank ammunition, dummy ammunition and the practices that govern the safe use of each.
