Vectorworks Spotlight teaches students to use the CAD (Computer Assisted Drafting) program “Vectorworks Spotlight” to make light plots and 3D renderings of sets and lighting instruments and environments. Students will learn skills including 2D drafting, 3D modeling and rendering, and creating draft plots of complex lighting systems. Students will also learn complex symbol creation, how to create reports, and how to facilitate database maintenance.
Fundamentals: learning the program interface
Plot making and drafting: using the tools of the program to create simple light plots
Custom symbols: making and storing your own library of custom light symbols
Title block and custom reports: learning how to use the database features of the program to make custom reports of show data and lighting info
Viewports and exporting the info: learning how to distribute information to the lighting crew
