Production Payroll Accounting 101 in Van Nuys, CA | Local 871

Course covers how to break various union and non-union crew time cards. Participants will learn how to pay the majority of the crew they will encounter on a film production.

  • Break down basic union time cards with discussions of rules and industry standards while showing how the various documents (call sheets, daily time sheets, production reports) are utilized (cover minimum calls, work hours vs. pay hours, hours worked vs. hours elapsed, etc.)

  • Discuss the various unions that don’t follow that standard pay rules (Local 600, 695, 706,

    etc).

  • Discuss non-union payroll

  • Delve deeper into meal penalties, rest periods, and forced calls

  • Discuss the differences between studio / nearby / distant terms and conditions

  • Discuss Basic Crafts and the various terms and conditions of the locals therein

  • Discuss the basics of the Area Standards Agreement

  • Discuss fringes/benefits and how to find/calculate the various components (FLSA, vacation, holiday, pension, training fund) including discussion of guarantees regarding how things get paid
