Basic sewing skills and basic techniques for heavier weight materials commonly used in creating items like curtains or bags used by Set Decorating and Props departments will be taught in this class. This is for participants who are already familiar with a sewing machine, how to operate and thread it, but need more guidance on heavier weight materials and the techniques used to craft with them.
Participants will learn the inherent differences when working with heavier weight materials common to Décor items and bags. They will learn how to make a basic gathered café style curtain and knife edge pillow or a drawstring bag and “kidnapping hood” will be taught in this course. Additional embellishments will be demonstrated, and if time permits, the students may duplicate embellishments on their projects.
