This course covers electrical theory and application of electrical power distribution and electrical safety for motion picture production. Participants will learn the basics of electricity including DC and AC circuit theory, 3-phase power, power factor, harmonics, best practices for the safe distribution of electrical power, how to mitigate hazards by using the proper PPE, how to properly select the components of a power distribution system, and how to monitor the system during operation. This course is designed to help participants recognize and mitigate the hazards involved in electrical power distribution by using the right techniques, tools, and PPE for specific tasks.
