The basic lighting course will review identifying basic lighting instruments and cables, lighting terminology, basic signal flow, proper hanging and circuiting of lighting instruments, and basic focusing techniques. Students will:
Demonstrate the proper way to safely hang and circuit conventional fixtures
Demonstrate the proper way to safely hang, circuit, address, and run signal flow for LED light fixtures
Learn different lighting accessories such as gels, gobos, irises and their applicability in focusing lights for desired design effects
Learn basic lighting terminology
Successfully demonstrate light focusing techniques for conventional instruments
Demonstrate understanding of DMX signal flow and how to properly cable and address LED lighting fixtures
