The Adult CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches students how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies for victims about 12 years and older. Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Adult CPR/AED valid for two years.
Scene Safety: Recognizing an emergency and size up the scene
Activating and working with the emergency medical services (EMS) system
Understanding legal concepts as they apply to lay responders, including consent and the purpose of Good Samaritan laws
Personal Protection: Reducing the risk disease transmission when giving care
Recognizing the signs and symptoms of a heart attack, and learning appropriate first aid care for a person who is showing these signs and symptoms
Learning the links in the Cardiac Chain of Survival
Learning CPR and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) for a person who is in cardiac arrest
Learning first aid care for a person who is choking
Learning the use of epi auto injectors and Rescue Inhalers
