This course provides technical and practical knowledge for women’s period costume drafting. The training will focus on detailed explanations and hands-on demonstrations of drafting techniques and design interpretation.
Bodice: draped bodice; period shaping darts and seams; size and shape of armholes; reference to a size chart
Sleeves: draft basic block, fitted sleeve, two-piece sleeve; manipulation of pattern for period design; setting sleeve into armhole
Skirt: gored skirt draft; manipulation of pattern to suit period of design
Period belts, collars, and cuffs: drafting period belts; drafting collars and cuffs to suit design
