Day Work is an extremely important aspect of running a production, and this course will walk you through the steps so you’ll be able to handle anything that comes your way on a work call. You will learn how and what to check for repairs, ironing, steaming techniques, basic costume maintenance, and basic shoe care. The class will also cover some basic techniques for quick repairs and how to assemble a basic daywork kit (including some helpful gadgets not usually on hand in some wardrobe rooms) so you’ll be prepared to take care of whatever comes up during a call.
Ironing demonstration and practice
Steaming demonstration and practice
Checking button, snaps, zippers, hole, stains, and ware
Practice sewing buttons, hook and eyes, and snaps
Appropriate protocol for major repairs
Shoes, polishing, gluing, and safety precautions
Communication with the dresser
