Many studio technicians work with low voltage signal cables on a routine basis, from analog and digital audio cables to DMX, ethernet and telephony applications. This class is designed by members in the Sound and Electric Departments. It will explain:
Which cable type is used for each application
How each type of cable is configured for its use
IEC wire color coding
Students will have an opportunity to construct either an analog audio cable with XLR connectors, a DMX cable with XLR connectors, or an ethernet cable with RJ45 connectors. Following a brief presentation by the trainer, participants will then take part in hands-on soldering work supported by mentors.
