Soldering and Cabling in Canton, MA | Local 481

  • Canton, MA United States (map)

Many studio technicians work with low voltage signal cables on a routine basis, from analog and digital audio cables to DMX, ethernet and telephony applications. This class is designed by members in the Sound and Electric Departments. It will explain:

  • Which cable type is used for each application

  • How each type of cable is configured for its use

  • IEC wire color coding

Students will have an opportunity to construct either an analog audio cable with XLR connectors, a DMX cable with XLR connectors, or an ethernet cable with RJ45 connectors. Following a brief presentation by the trainer, participants will then take part in hands-on soldering work supported by mentors.
