This course will teach aspiring riggers the basic skills needed to safely pull and hang rigging points for a theatrical show or concert. Instruction will include rope knots, rope maintenance while rigging, and working safely. Additional time will be spent on how to build rigging points and deciphering a rigging plot. At the end of the course students should feel comfortable working at heights or on the ground as a rigger.

  • Formulating a rigging plot

  • Layout and marking rigging points on the ground

  • Building points

  • Understanding floor markings

  • Build or hang a dead hang point

  • Build or hang a two-leg bridle

  • Work with a two-leg diagonal bridle

  • Work with a two-leg high-low bridle

  • Breast a bridle

  • Adjusting bridle leg lengths up on the steel

  • Dead hang on a beam sloping downwards and preventing it from sliding
