OSHA requires that all forklift operators must be trained. This custom, industry-specific forklift class, led by JLG Certified Trainers and Local 481 members Phil Reilly and Eric Komar, exceeds the OSHA Standards for forklift training required in every state. OSHA also requires operator evaluation every three years. 
 
The six-hour classroom section (indoors) focuses on: Load charts; Stability; Range of motion used in lifting material; Forklift hazards & how to recognize them; Driving hazards associated with forklift operations and more. A short video on the safe operations of a rough terrain forklift is shown. The session concludes with a written test.  
 
Individual, practical appointments (outdoors) begin immediately after class. Individuals conduct pre-operation inspections and spend time operating several different forklift models under the supervision of instructors. Those who successfully complete the class will receive a forklift certification card.
