This beginning class for lighting technicians with no previous board op experience is an introduction to the skills necessary to effectively run the “show control” elements of a film, television show, or commercial. It includes beginning level skills including console set up, cues, subs, light plots, information flow, DMX architecture, set protocol, communication with the gaffer, and managing the show control environment. The focus of this class is on explaining and unifying the disparate skills and elements necessary to be a good lighting console programmer. The class will teach new users how to be effective and focus on the task at hand, while managing all the different elements necessary to keep the show up and running.
