OSHA requires that all forklift operators must be trained. This custom, industry-specific forklift class exceeds the OSHA Standards for forklift training required in every state. OSHA also requires operator evaluation every three years. The six-hour classroom section (indoors) focuses on:
- Load charts
- Stability
- Range of motion used in lifting material
- Forklift hazards & how to recognize them
- Driving hazards associated with forklift operations and more.
A short video on the safe operations of a rough terrain forklift is shown. The session concludes with a written test. Individual, practical appointments (outdoors) begin immediately after class. Individuals conduct pre-operation inspections and spend time operating several different forklift models under the supervision of instructors. Those who successfully complete the class will receive a forklift certification card.
