Forklift Certification Seminar & Practical in Woburn, MA | Local 481


This class, part of our “Safety Starts Before the Engine” series is led by JLG Certified Trainers and Local 481 members Phil Reilly and Eric Komar, meets or exceeds the OSHA Standards for forklift training required in every state. Employers and supervisors place a high value on having licensed and trained operators on productions.

This class focuses on safe forklift operating knowledge and practice. The two-part session includes a morning classroom section (indoors) followed by individual appointments (approx. 45 minutes) for the forklift practical portion (outdoors). 

  • The classroom session will focus on:
  • Forklift stability and the stability triangle
  • Load charts
  • Range of motion used in lifting materials
  • Forklift hazards & how to recognize hazards
  • Driving hazards associated with forklift operations

A short video on the safe operations of a rough terrain forklift will be shown. The session will conclude with a written test. Immediately after class, members take part in individual “stick time” appointment where they operate three different types of forklifts on an obstacle course under the supervision of instructors.
