Fiber Optic Basics

In this course, each attendee will be taught how to properly handle, clean, test, and identify the standard fiber optic cables and connectors used in the broadcast and A/V industries today. This course is geared specifically towards teaching the basic skills and know-how needed on a show-by-show basis, to stick out in a crowd as someone who is confident and knowledgeable when it comes to fiber optics. Attendees will have their hands on equipment and one-on-one with gear.

Jesse Madison is the owner of The Fiber Guy Inc. and Purple Tally Productions Inc. With The Fiber Guy, he has specialized in fiber optic training, installation, sales, repair, and consulting. Purple Tally Productions provides staffing, payroll, and labor logistics support throughout every state in the US. Beginning in 1996, Jesse worked as a live event and broadcast TV technician, specializing in Camera Operation, Motion Control, Fiber Optics, and Tech Managing. This combination of engaging the industry from both the labor and management perspectives has given him a clear picture of what it takes to succeed at any level. Teaching Fiber Optic classes all over the country since 2014 is something he's very proud of. Sharing the learned skills around this technology and watching fellow technicians light up when they start grasping the concepts and asking great questions has become incredibly rewarding for him.
