This hands-on class covers the following topics: the importance of fashion makeup design comprehension for film and TV makeup artists; the cultural impact of entertainment makeup artists; researching and finding inspiration; fresh-faced beauty/The Five Minute Face; color-saturated makeup and the American Museum of Natural History Hall of Gems; makeup storytelling in advertising, editorial, and runway; creating characters; collaborating across crafts, and getting creative buy-in from directors, actors, and production; advanced makeup application techniques and Avant Garde design.

Andrew Sotomayor, IATSE Local 798

Andrew Sotomayor is an Emmy award winning makeup artist with 20 years’ experience and 10 year membership with Local 798. He has worked on shows like SNL, Pose, and The Other Two. Outside of entertainment, Andrew was a contributing writer for Glamour.com, a spokesperson for L'Occitane, La Mer, and Covergirl. Andrew has done makeup for magazines like Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and Harper's Bazaar Dubai. He's done makeup at 22 seasons of NY Fashion Week and even walked the Runway V vegan fashion show for charity in full drag, with thanks to volunteer IATSE makeup artists and hairstylists.
