Audio has always been the anchor of AV. Video receives the glitz and glam—and the exaggerated marketing specs—but audio is based on science and engineering.
That said, audio has undergone a renaissance over the past three years that has transformed it into a problem-solver that nearly everyone can manage. For decades, you had to be an acoustical engineer to specify, tune, and successfully commission a room for audio excellence. But, the modern DSP, Dante, AVB, AV-over-IP, and even Spatial Audio have simplified audio inside rooms so well that any AV tech can design and successfully deploy mics, speakers, and audio routing gear in virtually any space.
