Conventional Lighting Technician in Cedar Rapids, IA | Local 191

This course is about the equipment used in stage lighting for live entertainment events. This half-day course is intended to familiarize students with the basic types of conventional lighting instruments and the underlying physics and equipment design concerns, along with the basics of hanging and circuiting a theatrical lighting plot. Participants will be provided technical and practical knowledge for workers who work with conventional lighting equipment in support of live entertainment events. This course will focus on equipment contained in-house at a major local employer’s venue, and the safe accessing of stage lighting positions in that venue. Upon completion, participants will have a better understanding of the needs and concerns of stage lighting designers, and the process of helping a designer realize their vision in a safe and efficient manner.
