The course will cover theory, principles, and practices of rigging systems used in modern entertainment productions. Participant-Riggers’ skills will improve through greater knowledge and hands on practice as they apply the theories, principles, and practices at work. Crafts covered will be Rigging Grips and Rigging Electricians, however those in other departments wishing to transition to Rigging are able to attend.
Rigging Theory: Physics, Geometry, Inspection Protocols, Practices, Load Limits, Design Factors, Sling angle Factors, Strength Reduction Factors, D/d ratios
Equipment: Natural/Synthetic Rope (Rope is a machine, Type, Knots, Application), Wire Rope (Type, Terminations, Application), Chain (Types, Application), Slings (Type, Application), Supporting Members (Lumber, Tube/Pipe, I Beam, Truss, Applications)
Rigging System: Supporting Structures, Rope, Wire rope, Pulleys, Block and Falls, Chain Motors
